Navigation
Some advantages in navigation would be...
- Text links are ok for fast download time.
- You can make the text be keywords.
- Graphics are interesting and draw peoples eyes.
- They give your user a visual picture of the button.
- If you add alt tags then your website can still be navigated.
- You can add alt tags that have keywords and you could also use text links.
Some disadvantages would be...
- Text links are very boring and dont interest the user.
- The text links can be hard to read if there is a lot of blue links on your page.
- Graphic disadvantages are the download times.
- The beveled effect is trying not to be used as much but people like it because it appears to be clickable.
Other types of navigation are the Image Map, Drop-Down Menus, and Search Options. These are good ways of navigation but can be a bit confusing and are not the best choices for a website. There is also a good chance that the older browsers don't support these types.
